Mount Soledad La Jolla

Mount Soledad is a prominent land mark in city of San Diego.
Commercial aircraft approaching San Diego from the direction of los Angeles often use Mount Soledad as their point of view to start the downwind leg of their approach to San Diego International Airport.  
Mount Soledad is topped by a large concrete Christian cross, first built in 1913, and since rebuilt twice. 
Mount Soledad is one of the best spots to have the panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean, Coronado Bridge, La Jolla Shores, Downtown and most of San Diego.
It is a popular tourist spot and favorite of locals. 
Mount Soledad is the location of the last home lived in by Dr. Seuss. His widow, Audrey Geisel, resided atop Mt. Soledad in a lavish home, which includes an observation tower referred to as the Seuss house by the locals, until her death in 2018.
The war memorial is constructed a the foot of cross and it is composed of concentric walls that hold black granite plaques. Names and photos of Korean War veterans  are engraved on the plaques. 
Veteran’s Day ceremonies are held every year at Mount Soledad.
